A photovoltaic system on the roof generates environmentally friendly electricity. Geothermal heat provides warm hotel rooms and an air heat pump heats our pool all year round. Almost 70 % of the total heat and electricity demand is thus generated sustainably in-house.

The remaining demand for 100 % sustainable electricity is supplied by the hydroelectric power plant of the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs.

Highly efficient thermal insulation was already used during the general renovation in 2020.

A computer-controlled heating system reduces energy consumption by over 30%.

In our hotel, all rooms and public areas are equipped with the latest LED technology. These LED lamps are not only efficient and durable, but also environmentally friendly disposable. Due to the lower power consumption of the LEDs, less CO2 is released into the atmosphere. Every kilowatt-hour of electricity saved reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 590 grams.

Motion detectors to minimize energy are installed in most public areas, and lighting in other areas is controlled by timers.

We have deliberately decided against minibars in our rooms and suites. Instead, we offer you the opportunity to store your products on a refrigerated shelf in our restaurant. If required, we also provide special medical refrigerators.

We have also consciously decided against the use of air conditioning systems. It is often enough to lower the blinds during the day and open the windows at night. The fresh mountain air at night not only ensures pleasant cooling, but also a healthy air quality and a restful sleep.

In our hotel, taps and showers are equipped with jet regulators (perlators) that optimize water consumption.

Our kitchen appliances, including the stove, use modern induction technology for maximum efficiency.

Hot water is generated by intelligent heat recovery in the cooling systems.

In addition, we rely on state-of-the-art and highly efficient dishwashers that are continuously updated to sustainably reduce the consumption of energy, water and detergent.

Thanks to our fresh in-house kitchen and the focus on preparing our own meals, we significantly reduce packaging waste. We attach great importance to our regional suppliers packaging fresh products as sparingly as possible. By using fresh food, we also minimise energy consumption for its storage.

In summer we prepare fresh food for the autumn and winter months. We strive to refine all parts of our regional products – whether of animal origin or fruit and vegetables. Surplus bread is recycled, either by making crumbs or as fodder for our own highland cattle. In addition, we grow herbs in our own herb garden.

In our restaurant we offer our guests free carafe water from fresh spring water. All drinks are served in glass bottles, plastic bottles are completely dispensed with.

In the event that disposable crockery is used, it is not made of plastic. For example, we do not use plastic straws and instead use biodegradable straws made from corn starch. Our to-go hot drink cups are also biodegradable.

Instead of printed advertising and information materials, we offer our guests everything digital: from important information to postcards.

In addition, we work mostly paperless in our departments. All guest correspondence is managed digitally, and internal processes also take place digitally. If we still use paper, it comes from recycled materials.

Our household laundry is treated with eco-friendly detergents and cleaners. We also offer our guests organic fairtrade linen. In our laundry, we rely on a certified high-tech process that is particularly environmentally friendly.

We attach great importance to waste separation and carry it out conscientiously. Kitchen waste is converted into district heating in a nearby biomass power plant.

The cleaning of our hotel rooms takes place only on request of our guests. This conscious decision not only serves to conserve resources, but also contributes to a sustainable stay. Not having to clean the room saves about six litres of water, reduces the use of three detergents and saves one load of laundry and 15 minutes of electricity. We donate EUR 10. 00 to www.plantfortheplanet.org for each room cleaning not carried out.

In addition, we offer you the option to choose a CO2 offset when booking. As a result, all resulting CO2 emissions are compensated by planting a tree.
